Any new release from Brock Van Wey is worth a listen, but there's something extra-special about his occasional Earth House Hold project, which sees the experienced experimentalist explore the opaque world of "ambient influenced deconstructed deep house". Daybreak Basements & Broken Hearts, his third album under the alias, is a simply gorgeous, hard-to-pigeonhole affair, with sparse, off-kilter and echoing rhythms providing a base for spacey, reverb-laden chords, barely audible vocals, simmering melodies and enveloping ambient textures. The sound is maximal, rather than minimal, with a dreamy, saucer-eyed sense of giddy positivity prevailing. Music you can, and will want to, lose yourself in. clear orange & black splatter vinyl edition.
