Producer David Sutton has been working under the moniker LXV for several years, & in that time has issued a steady stream of genre-scrambling missives. The most recent of these, "Sirens", marked his first collaboration with Tim Hecker confidant Kara-Lis Coverdale & garnered praise & features from The Wire, FACT, among others. "Asylum/Theophany" is his heady follow-up solo dose. The album serves as a meditation on Chapel Perilous, an occult term that concerns confusion surrounding supernatural experiences in the physical world. Sutton deeply renders the concept, burying itinerant voices under spectral layers of noise, drones & sharply digital, cold, & harsh electronic tones
