Essentially, these are the UR-remixes. An attendee at an all night Riley concert in Philadelphia in 1967 operated a disco and commissioned him to compose a "theme" for the night-club. The result found Riley plundering and appropriating an obscure R&B tune ("You're No Good" by Harvey Averne) in a mix of Moog, tape-loops, and feed-back system. "Bird of Paradise" (1965) was recorded in San Francisco at Terry Riley's studio and uses the Junior Walker and his All-Stars' song "Shotgun" as its source material.
