various: galaxies-an excursion through technospace

ltd stock on this long out of print classic! The year was 1992 and New York underground electronic label Havoc Music, unleashed by electronic mastermind Taylor Deupree, had gathered many of his electronic music friends on a cassette compilation entitled "Technocriminal Subcultures". Later that year we asked our friend Tom Gromak to help finance a CD compilation containing many of the same artists. With his help the CD was released in early 93 and helped many of us gain greater recognition for our work. Not being the greatest marketeers in the world we still have a few left, a time capsule if you will, that provides an insight into the development of what are today much better known techno artists. To me its a funny thing, some of this older more "dated" material actually has more depth and staying power than many of our subsequent releases. Perhaps it's because this CD catches us in a transition phase of our work, before we had been conditioned by the demands of the techno regime and its unflappable rules system borne out of its umbilical cord relationship to the club/rave setting. Many of us were more concerned with experimenting with sound and technology than with fitting into a marketing niche; but in the years leading up to 1992 we were becoming increasingly intrigued by techno/house grooves and their potential to assimilate new infusions and endlessly morph in forms." - Jason Szostek, Brooklyn, NY 1997
