sterac: hypnoticus

Originally released on a limited white label, Sterac's icy techno record The Hypnoticus now includes three masterful remixes. Sterac's German dystopian cohort Vril turns in a more urgent dub mix, fleshed out with even more dub synths and stern kicks. New Yorkers Anthony Parasole and Phil Moffa then remix the track with paranoid synth loops and pounding drums. Finally, Mike Dehnert repackages the track as a swimming, funky bit of heavyweight techno. His weird hooks and coarse percussion make it the most arresting of the lot. Overall, though, this is seriously streamlined, groove-driven techno from a group of modern masters.
