This March the London based art editions and experimental electronics label We Can Elude Control presents a new 12" by the sound artist and sculptor Tom Richards. Through his custom built array of hardware Richards has developed a tense percussive language, crafting immersive rhythmic compositions that explore aspects of structure, tonality and variance. His loop based patterns evoke a purist machine aesthetic reminiscent of a vintage analogue sensibility in collision with a super-modernist compositional approach and an exploration of post-techno ritualism. His production process focuses on a live improvised approach working across several custom made devices to built a rhythmic composite of interlaced tones and cyclical pulses. Tom Richards has presented performances at Tate Britain, Milton Keynes Gallery and Spike Island with his work exploring the connections between sculpture, performance, DIY production and minimalist composition. These performances will be presented as a free CDR of live recordings included with the record that will give an insight into Richards' durational work along with his expanded techniques using radio transmissions and 12" vinyl loops. The record will be released on March 26th 2012 on We Can Elude Control, the label founded in 2008 by electronic musician and curator Paul Purgas who is one half of the experimental electronics project Emptyset. The release will be the fourth output from the label following contributions by Sleeparchive, Regis & Mick Harris and New York musician and filmmaker Rose Kallal.
